Due to a confrontation Friday that resulted in no injuries, Alliant Energy Center staff have decided to make changes regarding admission to the Dane County Fair. The incident, a fight in a parking lot, was quickly mitigated by event security and law enforcement.
On both Saturday and Sunday, all those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult to gain admission, and the fair will close at 7 p.m. These changes were made after consultation with event security, the Dane County Sheriff's Office and Alliant Energy Center administrators.
The Alliant Energy Center is taking appropriate steps to ensure the safety of the public as events return to the facilities. During the coronavirus pandemic, the Alliant Energy Center became a hub for public health resources, proving itself to hold the safety of Dane County residents as its first priority. These decisions regarding the fair are in keeping with that spirit.
The Dane County Fair will resume Saturday with the same access to family fun it has offered for decades. The Alliant Energy Center has been proud to host the fair and provide the community with a safe and secure venue.
